From the large pool of climatetech startups in our portfolio, we are bringing philanthropic funding support to provide grants to select, promising starts to make sure their funding needs are bridged in the early stages. Climate Collective has been striving to support more women in business through our programs. Be it in clean energy solutions, sustainable consumption or finding alternatives to plastic, women are leading the way. Climate Pitch for Women aims to strengthen support for women-led startups from our Women in Climate Entrepreneurship (WICE) Initiative with small grants to strengthen their entry into the market. We are inviting 8 of the promising startups from the WICE portfolio to be part of this platform for our first pilot.

ElectronVibe is a business-case development competition to identify and showcase entrepreneurial and technological innovations by mature power sector startups for Indian electric utilities, with refined solutions arrived at via a co-creation process. This roundtable event brings together several stakeholders from the power sector, including representatives from electric utilities and think tanks, as well as startups that showcase the innovation and activities in the power sector. Climate Collective builds climate startup platforms that take an “ecosystem” approach to support startups in the startup journey. The Collective is building an integrated set of platforms, thereby taking a holistic view of support, integrating the ecosystem across funding platforms, educational programs, community programs, etc. The Collective acts as an Ecosystem Operator to create synergies across these programs, as well as to integrate them with other stakeholders at different parts of the startup Journey. Climate finance is gaining traction in India at the policy and corporate levels. Recently, India became the second-largest issuer of green bonds globally, with over $10 billion issued and an increasing number of financing institutions adding green financing products to their portfolios. Given this momentum, this is the perfect time to encourage digital finance technologies that catalyze decarbonization through climate fintech! Climate Collective Foundation and New Energy Nexus India are excited to host India’s FIRST EVER convening of sustainable finance stakeholders, including climate-focused foundations, development banks, and other corporates, to chart the way forward for climate fintech in India. New Energy Nexus has developed a global climate fintech program after extensive research in the major economic regions of the US, Europe, and China. This has been supplemented by a comprehensive Climate Fintech report that examines viable business models and outlooks for climate fintech in these regions. Given this experience, the time is opportune to develop an ecosystem for climate fintech specific to India.

Did you know that 2.95 billion tons of solar waste could enter India’s electronic waste stream by the year 2047? This considerable volume and value of solar PV waste is much higher than any other end-of-life electrical and electronic equipment during the same period. In May 2020, India’s first pilot – Solar Waste Action Plan (SWAP) project investigated the technical and economic feasibility of a PV panel recycling facility in India. This event engages corporates in the domain to learn about the project and build a way forward to develop the ecosystem of solar waste recycling in India.
